That Old Stuff presents tender portraits of humble household white enamelware - objects whose unsophisticated, unadorned beauty belies the resilience and complex realities of their form and function.
Lingering residues, chips and rust on this ‘old stuff’, are what connect regional SA artist Lyn Wood to the lived experiences and repetitive rituals that gave meaning to the domestic life of her grandparents.
This body of work is a momentary shift in Wood’s practice, away from her renowned abstracted landscapes. It evolved throughout the now twelve-month period of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the artist turned her gaze inward toward her domestic environment.
